Byron Buxton Makes History On His Bobblehead Night

With the Twins winning 10-3 in the bottom of the seventh, manager Rocco Baldelli nearly removed Byron Buxton from the game.

A few other coaches then reminded him what was a stake, and it was more than just being the All-Star center fielder’s bobble head night.

Buck then blasted a 427-foot solo homer to complete the first cycle of his career, the first at Target Field and the Twins’ first in six seasons.

Byron finished 5-5 with singles in the first and fifth, a triple in the second and a double in the third.

Buxton, preparing to compete in the Home Run Derby in a few days, has 21 homers on the season, fifth most in the American League.

Byron was throwing 99 MPH fastballs and batting in the .500s as a Georgia high schooler when the Twins drafted him second in 2012.

The 31-year-old is now a father of three, an entrepreneur and Minnesota’s best player, overcoming injuries throughout much of his career.
