For MLB teams, bobbleheads are a way to connect with fans. “When you’re giving away something that reminds people that they love the team and the player, that’s really important,” says New York Mets chief marketing officer Jeff Grossman. Teams spend months getting facial features and tattoos and stances just right. For fans, it’s just fun. Bobbleheads have even earned their own Hall of Fame and January 7 became National Bobblehead Day.
In 1999, the Giants breathed new life into these figurines when they gave a Willie Mays bobblehead to the first 20,000 attendees at Candlestick Park for a game. More teams followed suit, and the figurines became more realistic and grew in size. They also moved out of stadiums and into merchandise like t-shirts, coin banks, and even action figures. Then, in 2010, the world’s largest bobblehead was made, earning a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The smallest versions of these bobbleheads come on keychain chains. These are perfect for attaching to your keys, backpack, or what have you. They’re also super detailed and super cute.
These are the newest addition to Funko’s Pop line, and they’re just as adorable as any of their other dolls. These are also a little different from the other POP keychains in that they don’t actually have a bobble head, but they do look incredibly detailed and cute!
