The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in Milwaukee is the first of its kind in the world. Sklar and his brother, Doug, grew up in Milwaukee and are lifelong Brewers fans. He says that when they traveled to other MLB stadiums, they would notice the fervor surrounding bobblehead giveaways and it was that that inspired them to start their own business making bobbleheads for athletes, teams and organizations. They started with a small operation out of Doug’s garage and soon were hiring employees, renting space in Milwaukee and producing thousands of bobbleheads a year.

Over time, they’ve learned how to speed up the process of announcing and selling bobbleheads and now can put a commissioned bobblehead on sale in about 48 hours from an athlete or team requesting one. That kind of turnaround is important when you’re dealing with a limited edition item.

They’ve also learned how to make their bobbleheads more durable. They’re crafted out of polyurethane resin, which is a stronger material than the polystyrene used in many other bobbleheads. Polyurethane resin is also more resistant to chemicals and heat, which is ideal for sports memorabilia. They’re also molded around an actual body, so the likeness is more accurate than other types of bobbleheads.
