In the office, bobbleheads can add a little fun and personality to your workspace. These collectible figurines with oversized heads that bob when touched are a popular office decor trend and can help boost morale, encourage team spirit and provide a fun way to make boring work more engaging.
On the hit TV show The Office, Dwight Schrute (played by actor Rainn Wilson) collected a number of bobbleheads on his desk throughout the series. One of the most memorable was a baseball bobblehead of Michael Scott, the boss of Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch. While a baseball bobblehead may have looked ordinary, it carried extra significance in Dwight’s eyes, as the character’s first and middle name both matched the real-life name of the minor league manager who inspired the character.
A few months after the show’s premiere, Iowa artist Guise was contacted by NBC to create a bobblehead of Dwight. He complied, and the prop caught on with viewers—so much so that NBC asked Guise to make more, eventually selling 150,000 of them from his basement in Des Moines. The success of the wobbler gave Guise his big break in the bobblehead business, which he continued to run from his home until 2008, when his company fell apart amid a flood of orders and poor accounting practices.
Bring a little of Dwight’s wit and charm to your workplace with this The Office double Dwight bobblehead, which is perfect for displaying on your desk or in your home office. The realistic 5.5-inch figure is officially-licensed and features a fun design that will spark conversation with coworkers and friends.
