The company specialized in creating popular culture collectibles like bobblehead dolls, which are characterized by a head that swivels above the body. In 1999, the San Francisco Giants handed out 35,000 Willie Mays-like bobbleheads during one of their games and the figurines became hugely popular among fans and collectors. New manufacturing processes enabled bobbleheads to be made from plastic instead of ceramic, dramatically reducing the cost and effort required to produce them. Xena Bobble Head
The figure depicts the warrior princess dressed in her traditional armour. She is holding her sword and signature chakram. The figurine is part of the Funko Pop! line of figures, which features characters from popular TV shows, films, and sports teams. These figurines are created by the American company Funko Inc, which was established in 1998 to create pop-culture collectibles. The figures are sculpted in such a way as to resemble the characters from the show and feature detailed costumes, hair styles, and headbands.
Former XENA costume designer Ngila Dickson was part of the team that won an Oscar for their work on the LORD OF THE RINGS movies. She and co-designer Richard Taylor were presented with their awards by Renee Zellweger. Well done to Ngila and Renee – it’s a great win for New Zealand!
