A factory in the Chinese port of Xiamen specialized in producing bobbleheads for western markets, has been producing figurines of Anthony Fauci, the director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, footage from Saturday shows.

“We don’t know much about Anthony Fauci, for us, he is like our Nanshan Zhong,” said the factory manager comparing Dr Fauci to renowned Chinese pulmonologist who helped curb the SARS outbreak.

“We can produce 1,000 of Fauci’s dolls a day. The order we received is 30,000. It will take about 35 days to produce them,” he went on to say.

Fauci, whose bobblehead figurine is seemingly making a ‘flatten-the-curve’ gesture, has become a national and international sensation with his cool and frank demeanour amid the COVID crisis.

By making and exporting bobblehead figurines of famous medical experts like Anthony Fauci, the factory is hoping to raise the funds necessary from the United States to purchase masks for those in need in China.
